Local Network Identification: Domestic Payment Schemes
In the global payment ecosystem, many cards carry Dual-Badging: a global brand (Visa/Mastercard) alongside a Local Network (Domestic Scheme). Identifying these local networks—such as Carte Bancaire (France), Mada (Saudi Arabia), or PagoBancomat (Italy)—is vital for optimizing transaction routing and reducing processing costs.
Why is Local Network identification important?
- Reduced Interchange Fees: Processing via a local network is often significantly cheaper than routing through global card schemes.
- Improved Authorization Rates: Local banks often prioritize transactions processed via their domestic switch.
- Compliance: In regions like the EU, merchants have the right to choose the most cost-effective brand on a dual-badged card.
Premium Add-on: Domestic Scheme identification is available for Extended License holders.
Cost: $2,500 (one-time fee).
